Now I am not a COTD fan at all but I have to right up this deal as it is definitely worth it.
You can pick up the 30GB Zune for under $240, deliver is $9.95.

I actually prefer the Zunes to the iPods
Here is some of the spec:
" * Plays music, pictures, videos and podcasts

Sorry but I don't think this is a bargain at all. In the Black Friday sales in the US last week these were going for USD$79 to $99. Why? Because it's superseded!!!

The Zune v2 is 80Gb and retails for USD$249. Just released. It's seen as the first real iPod killer with a smaller footprint, better navigation, and much more. www.zune.net

Again, sorry, but this is not a bargain in my view. A bit of a rip off actually.

Fair enough. Thanks for letting us know Gstok. You should have cold voted me :D

I was not aware that they had released a new version but makes sense. Why else would COTD have it.

:)

COTD just buy crap that America can't sell anymore and try to flog it here.

Also apparently the Zune is not that good. If someone sends you a song you can only listen to it a number of times before it disappears.

To be honest I think the new zunes look really fugly.

Really Elegant,
I thought they were pretty good from the reports I had heard

There's a good (at least a good claim on) battery life there! 14 hours from one charge is insane!
• nod2007/12/01 23:19:51
Ah where did you read that Brad?
I had heard they had a pretty good battery life too

Anyone here got one?

If you send a friend a song they can only listen to it 3 times before they have to buy it.

How does that work then?
Does the Zune have software that labels the songs and then deletes them?

Dont be sorry gstok - the sort of comments you made are exactly why this place is here. Go for it.

Something like that. They want you to buy the song from their "marketplace" after 3 listens.

Also I think COTD are making $100 profit from each Zune sold at least because they are currently only $99 in the US and with the favourable exchange rate they are making a tidy sum.

I just found this in iTWire:

Engadget has also reported on another big problem facing the Zune – one that makes its vaunted wireless sharing feature, known as ‘squirting’, almost redundant.

According to Engadget, Universal and Sony are prohibiting certain tracks from being shared wirelessly, with an image at the story linked in this paragraph showing that only some of the songs selected for squirting were able to be shared wirelessly, with the message on the Zune’s screen, being “Can’t send some songs because of rights restrictions” saying it all.

Of course, the iPod and the iPhone don’t offer this feature at all, although SanDisk’s new ‘Sansa’ mp3 player is the second big-name mp3 player to offer Wi-Fi capabilities, reportedly going as far as allowing you to access music stores when in range of a wireless connection and downloading music right to the new Sansa.

As has been said many, many times about Microsoft in the past – they often take around three goes to get something right. They seem to have broken this law with the Xbox 360 – it’s only the second Xbox model, after all, and despite the incredible success of the Wii, it is still the global next-gen gaming champion in terms of hardware and software sales.

The big question is… can Microsoft break the ‘takes 3 goes’ rule with the Zune, and deliver a killer product that can decisively compete with the true iPod video and the iPhone? In an industry worth billions of dollars, it could well be the new $64 billion dollar question.

How did Microsoft get to be such a powerhouse :D
• elegantegotist2007/12/02 20:10:08
The only reason Xbox 360 is the current leader is because it was released ages before the Wii and PS3. The true winner is the Wii (so far) but experts expect it to be PS3, Wii and then the Xbox 360 at the end of the race.

Xbox is looking to be a very expensive failed attempt to win over the games market. The margins were next to nothing on the hardware - and the hit they took on the faults was huge.
