There are a few common isues such as single bright pixels in some of their screen. They are made by Ingram Micro, The panel is souced from AU Optronics and Chi Mei Optoelectronics.

So Vincent, do you think they are worth buying over a slightly more expensive Chi Mei or BenQ?

Depends on the usage, Let's say. If it's just for a kids computer, It will be fine, for just web browsing is fine. Having said that, It's all light use activity's. If you are planning to use it for a while for viewing photos and watching videos then you should look at a better screen. The Dell 22" is a good entry to that, It has the 3 Year Advance exchange, It's hard to go wrong. If there is no discount for the Dell then the Samsung 226BW 22" S Panel is good as well They are are all under $500 monitors. The issue with Samsung is that lately they have been shipping AO & ChiMei panels instead of using their regular Samsung Panels. Effectively Samsung is giving you a cheap screen instead of a good one. This particular issue is marked on the back on the monitor in "A" or "C" or "S" these are the first letter of the manufacturer of the panel.
