Western Digital SATA 1TB @ MSY $385

16 October 2007

This is about as cheap as I can find a terrabyte disk WD sata for.

The site being crap your best to search the linked page for the following string ' Western Digital SATA '.

The nearest other prices I can find are $450 to $460 so a very nice effort.

I dont know if you can get it delivered from MSY (if not go visit the NSW, Vic, SA or Qld stores), but maybe someone on here can clear that up for me.

UMart in QLD are now price matching see http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2=129&&bid=2&sid=26683

wow, the creator of that site doesn't have any idea of the impact of the presentation on the potential customers...but yeah, the price looks very good...

:D - they really really dont do they. Obviously they've got it well optimised in favour of useability, but I've got to hand it to them. They do have some very good prices. I'd be a bit hesitant to buy a 1TB drive just yet because I reckon they'll come down a bit more in price.

MSY has a horrible website so it's easier to link straight to their pricing PDF, which is a bit better on the eyes http://msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf As far as delivery the Slacks Creek store delivers but none of the other stores do. A couple of pointers if you're going into a store. Call in advance to make sure they have what you want, items are frequently out of stock. Also be prepared to queue, even during a work day the wait is usually 10 minutes plus. Those two points aside MSY are really cheap :)

Thanks for the tip Cropsy :) I wonder why only one store actually delivers? And do you know if they will deliver Oz wide?

I guess it's easier to centralise their mail order handling in one location. I'm pretty sure they deliver Australia wide but I've only bought from them in person.

HAHA, I said to one of my colleagues this site looks like it was made in word, and looking at the source, what do you know… it was!

:D - that'd explain why its so fiendishly ugly. It probably explains why the site never pops up in the results when you google a product or at least if it does its so far off the list I never bother getting there.

"wow, the creator of that site doesn't have any idea of the impact of the presentation on the potential customers" They do fine for customers :p I've never been in there once with a line of less than 3 people. You don't need the greatest website when you've got a reputation of under-cutting the prices of everyone around you. And a hint, instead of using google for pc and hardware prices try StaticIce. Most pc stores (inc MSY) are listed on www.StaticIce.com.au listings are in order of price

:) - google comes well down the list of sites like static ice when I check stuff out. :D we do run a bargain hunters community after all.

What do you think?
