It seems that Dell's checkout has a problem right now as I cant get any systems to checkout. My advice if you want to try and take advantage of this shocking price is to keep trying until the checkouts fixed then pay up asap and hope Dell honour the price ;)
• jdstacey
Hot from me - but what's the normal RRP for this system? Any ideas?

I asked hubby and he didn't like it at all and told me not to buy as the specs are lousy I guess it's a basic computer - perfect for a student.. Not good for a gamer however :p But the price is fantastic for a basic computer! As it also includes a 19" monitor!

A complete guess would be around $7-800
• golfwidow
Fingers crossed LP :)
• lilpretzel
Thanks Golfy. Going by QS post, I can see this now going to Miss 8 as her computer needs replacing... Some might want to upgrade the monitor for an extra $25.30 ;)
• sandgroper
To give you some idea of how Dell have errored on the price... They are listing the 220ST R221121AU with E1200 cpu, 1gig, 160GB and 17" monitor for $649! Upgrade that ecode to the spec I have posted and its $939 delivered so a very nice saving if its what you need. So grab this deal while you can as its sure to get dropped pretty quick once they realise.

a definite cherry with this offer :D
• frednurks
I dont think it's an error. It says limited time special price. Still a bargain though.
• ISNAIL
thanks!!!!
• fairybelle
Wow what a great buy...
• sandgroper
The cpu is Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor E2200 (2.20GHz, 800MHz, 1MB cache) Plenty of processing power for multitasking with common applications and relatively large files. Not a gamers cpu but then the graphics offered with this unit is not capable of the more power hungry games. Less demanding games should be fine though.
• sab988
add the coupon HK$7SKXL4F?932for another 5% off .. working :w00t:
• melissanj
i cant seem to find this computer?.... can someone post the direct link so i can find it? thanks
• melissanj
never mind i just read the ecode thing!
• sandgroper
Couple of things, if you use a coupon code you almost certainly wont get the Bucky cashback too unless its a coupon issued publicly for this deal. You might want to consider upgrading the monitor, the one it comes with is normal aspect and you can go widescreen for little $ extra with Dell 20" Entry (E207WFP) Wide Screen Flat Panel LCD Monitor (ANA, DVI) [add $25.30] This is a slim desktop so takes half height cards, just something to bear in mind if you are considering upgrading the graphics from elsware. I notice this deal has migrated to other forums now so if your thinking of buying I would do it sooner rather than later as once Dell start to see the amount of orders coming in they will realise the price is far too low and pull the deal or reprice it. We can only hope that they see fit to honour the orders placed.
• melissanj
:D im so excited!!! im so sick of my laptop!
• ndro777
wooohooo I've ordered 4 units for my work. Here's hoping it'll be honoured by dell and me score some brownie points with the boss! hehe

GOT MYSELF ONE + %5 Discount with Coupon Code. ... Just got myself this deal but added the 20" Widescreen for $25 more.. BUT then I used a 5% discount code (HK$7SKXL4F?932) and it brought the price back to $375.. The 20" Widescreen alone is $210 with $30 off (normally $250).. so this is an excelent deal for me.. and the first from BuckScoop as well. Do it people.. you can always sell it on and probably make profit from it as well.
• melissanj

Hope that everyone who ordered gets their orders. It says on the DELL website - "MISTAKES: While all efforts are made to check pricing and other errors, inadvertent errors do occur from time to time and Dell reserves the right to decline orders arising from such errors."
• maf101
A big thank you for this deal!!! I ordered 2. I hope they don't cancel my order.
• khaz0r
Hmm.. i remember when they were selling 22" monitors for $49 and 24" for $149. They just sent a stupid generic email around saying that it was a mistake and they did not honour it. They did give back the full refund though. Hope those of you who got in quick for this deal get your computer, because it is just bad business if "errors" like these keep happening every few months.

Don't worry, I paid by direct deposit too, the refund was easy. They just called me up to confirm my details and told me that they will refund it within a couple of days.
• sandgroper
I do hope you all get order confirmation emails but going on how many have been ordered on here and other forums I think Dell may be taking just too big a hit if they fill all the orders. Lets hope they do. If not then as long as your refunds come quickly you have had some fun and a big adrenaline rush while trying to get in quick!
• admin EDITOR
depends how severe the mistake is. They made a really big one not that long ago where $300 items checked out at $25 - needless to say they didnt honour that one, but I have heard of them doing it with other stuff ups.
• nod
Lets hope it is first in first served then - that seems fair. It would nice if they honored a certain amount Great to see all the new Buckscoopers jump in and bag a deal Welcome all :flowers: Thanks again Sandy

Always want to post something up but I wonder how everyone find deals like this and I dont :( :) hot vote from me!
• Auna
This is from another forum:
Had a conversation earlier today with the Dell Small Business Rep that my mate usually deals with. He told me he had received a bucketload of calls from people about this offer and confirmed that the price was a stuff up from Dell (hence the deal was pulled). He said he had just spoken to his manager who came out of a meeting regarding this stuff up and as it currently stands, Dell will be honouring this deal only for those who managed to get an order in.
Sounds promising!
• lilpretzel
Thanks for that Auna! This will be fantastic if Dell does. They do every now and than have stuff up's which isn't our fault but we can't help being clever bargain shoppers! We need to be watching every cent we spend and need to spend it wisely so 'YES' people are going to be jumping on these excellent findings. I do feel bad for Dell but they can look at this mistake as a EXCELLENT Marketing Campaign, the amount of traffic this deal would had generated should compensate for the cheap price. I feel they would had spent a lot more money on a Marketing Campaign so just put in down as that and honour the sales! :)

Welcome to Buckscoop Kennethkoh and Fistworthy Glad we could help you out with a great buy If Auna's inside info is good then there will be some very happy Buckscoopers :D. Thanks for letting us know Auna Sorry to hear you missed out Trevorf :(

Here's hoping the info Auna posted is correct. I'm not holding my breath - but it'd be a nice little early Xmas present :)
• golfwidow
Great to see some newbies joining in the forums! Hopefully Dell is happily filling orders as we speak. But even if you miss out on this one I am sure it won't be long till you find another great deal on here to distract you :D
• lilpretzel
Well with the deal they declined a few months back the email arrived the next morning, so at the moment it's looking very promising every minute. :)
• IainBest
I'll uncross my fingers when the money comes off my credit card!!

No word on my order yet (1 for me, 1 for wife, 1 for work). But a friend had his "confirmed" this morning. Anyone else with a confirmation email?
• itstricky83
No confirm for me yet :-(... anyone else? So far only word of 1 confirmation, that being SHOBBS friend. At least its a confirmed order and makes it all the more promising for the rest of us.
• nod
I think the way to look at is if Dell were not going to honor the sales I am pretty sure they would have sent out a generic " this was an error" email Like they did last time ... so it is looking good All fingers and toes crossed :D
• thedreamer81
Yeah I thought so too, that they would have sent out a email saying it cancelled. Hopefully today is the day of confirmation :D

Dell have rung some customers so far stating they can have the computer package for $799.00 not $350.00 another person has been told they will receive theirs for $350.00 (this is just what I've heard) Man we better get ours, I wonder what time the 1st order was placed?

Yup, just got called and was told I have to cancel the order or follow through with the order at 729 (5% discount due to inconvenience incurred). She said they are not selling the system for $350 to anyone and that the websites states they have the right to decline orders based on errors.

did u pay by credit card or EFT
• IainBest
Yeah, how dare they sell at a price that would likely lose them money (or at the bare minimum, not make any) :P Seriously, I'd have been kinda surprised if they'd honoured the price... was still hoping they would though. The more cynical side of me thinks they make such offers in order to get contact details to try and sell the machines for the 'normal' price.
• admin EDITOR
I sometimes lean that way too IanBest. They make a bunch of pretty hefty mistakes for a huge corporate that only conducts its business through the internet but I guess so does everyone its just the microscope is on Dell. They are obliged to remove all your details if you request it but best to confirm your request by email so you have a written record of it.

doesnt look too pretty after all.. man im going to argue with them and have a damn good fight before i give up, there is no way they can get away with SO MANY mistakes and just disregards it each and everytime.. period xD

I paid by Credit Card, I don't think arguing will get you anywhere, unless it gives you some sense of validation. If something is too good to be true, it usually is. The Dell lady I spoke to was quite clear there would be no exceptions, and that they were not going to honor the price stated as it was clearly an error. To me, this deal is closed - they are not going to set a new precedent based on customer's dissatisfaction.
• IainBest
I've not been called yet, but I'm thinking of playing the "My employer buys a large number of desktop and laptop machines every year" card, just to see where it gets me. I'm already accepting that I won't get it though..
• kennethkoh
hahaha if it gives me the satisfaction giving them a yelling before not getting anything then yeh.. by all means i will do it and i am with iainbest, i have that card up the sleeve and :) we will see where tht brings us..
• maf101
I just got my call. I almost hanged up. I thought it was an Asian telemarketer. I couldn't be bothered fighting it. She offered me one for $799. I'm not sure if that price included the 20" monitor (from my order) or the default 19".
• sab988
if i was you, id say that they clearly stated on the website that it was a special offer at the $379 price and then say ull take it to fair trading bc u have a screen shot.

Good luck with fair trading lol. It also clearly states they won't honour mistakes. It was worth a try - it didn't work - I don't blame Dell for not honouring a multitude of deals that would see them losing money. Yes it's a bugger that this happens fairly frequently but they simply have no obligation to honour them. Moving along now...

While I agree with you Jdstacey I think that in terms of customer service Dell need to reconsider the way they manage these events. The "special" price remained up on the Dell site for around 8 hours (a long time in my opinion). They must have been aware of the error due to the unusually large number of sales that we generated. So the deal should have been removed ASAP. Apology emails should have been issued ASAP. I also think that they need to recognise their error and honor a small number of transactions. The first 'x' that are processed. In my opinion a better way to deal with the situation. They don't need to honor all of the sales and incur a massive loss just a few for the quickest customers My humble 2 cents worth if you are watching or should I say reading Dell :D
• sab988
yah i reckon too they were aware of this error bc it was marked as a special. :whistling: If u can argue them on that basis in a decent manner, im sure they'll honor it :w00t:

"Our interpretation of the Sale of Goods Act is that the consumers who have had their credit card debited have entered into a contract with Dell," a spokesman said. "The transacting of the money constitutes a contract for sale."
A very interesting point. This would have to apply for direct debit forms of payment too as Dell physically have the money in their account. If people were considering taking this further thenmaybe we should contact the Age for a follow up story :D
• kennethkoh
i am yet waiting for my call.. we should all team up or something and bring it to Today's Tonight.. that would be one hell of a story.. "multi billion company repeatedly made mistakes on pricing but fail to honour them..." "bunch of angry customers is furious and wants justice" isnt that what we want to see on TT? haha no more boring neighbours conflict, no more crappy builders....
• nod
:D yeah ... so who wants in on the tv program? .. we will need 'angry customers' :D

I still haven't had a call. Lazy Dell.
• ndro777
I just got a call, well my assistant did and he basically told the Dell people we're bringing this to Fair Trading office :) hehe so Dell's lady said she'll "escalate" the problem. It's waiting game now.
• totomvn
To be honest, I won't mind if Dell cancel & email me the notice within 24 hours. But it has been 3 days now and still no one contacts me yet. Kind of pissed with this sort of customer service. Very willing to join a fight if some one organizes it. No way i will cancel the order if they calls me.
• IainBest
Just got called. No Dell for me.
• dennisy
Just got my call from DELL too. Was told that they had so many calls to make - hence the delay in reaching me. Same story of being offered 2 options - cancel order or 5% discount on new price of $799. Didn't accepted either options - so they will get their supervisor to follow-up.
• kennethkoh
haven't got my call, might call them up to chase up rather.. asking them whr is my confirmation email ;) oh on the matter of fair trade, I think we need to form some sort of petition or what not (maybe) and go in as a GROUP rather then individuals as it is more effective that way?

If you were to scroll down on any of the other 3 220ST ecodes when they were available, they also said the same, so I think that means nothing at all. I've not looked but it prob says the same on many other Dell ecodes.

Any word of the situation? The way I see it is if a company like Dell advertises special deals and puts effort into marketting the "great" price and then renigs on their offer then I would be inclined to never look at their deals again thinking they are just a waste of my time and tell every body else that Dell have a VERY bad habit of pulling out on there advertised deals. I very much doubt I could be calling Dell back and saying "Fair trade told me to tell you to hand over the merchandise punk!" but I'd love too do so.
• sab988
wohoo i got my call today ... i didnt cancel my order .. they will escalate it and if i dont get a satisfitactory reply, i told them that i will escalate it to fair trading :w00t:

Dell have done it again, same ecode, go to page 3 accessories and uncheck all the already added parts, go to checkout and its cost is now $251 delivered and even has 4gig of ram now. You do realise you wont get it dont you...but hell its worth a try!
• sandgroper
Better still as your not deviating from their offer at all is to leave all the ticked accessories as they are and buy it at $799. The cost of the accessories listed in the checkout screen is enough to make a nice cheap desktop once they are sold on ebay!
• sandgroper
All the items below come with the base unit for $799 the cost of the items on their own at Dell s prices is $587.30 Nice..... ']Dell backtracks on ‘accidental’ 55% PC discount'While no purchasers of the Vostro systems appear to have had their credit cards debited some buyers opted to pay money directly into Dell’s bank account through an online bank transfer, and that’s somewhat more of a grey area.
So is it better to pay by EFT?hmm

this time, you can really have a strong argument because its not the pricing thats stuffed up but rather we DECIDED not to take any accessories they offered :) at the end of the day, if they make so many mistakes they are bound to get owned by SOMEONE..

Dells errors are so amusing it's like a game. I did video screen capture this time. It's more fun than watching TV! On a serious note, I purchased 2 on my credit card and I bought one for my sister with internet banking all with 22" LCDs. I doubt they'll honor it.

friend just got off the phone with an australian Dell supervisor that rang and said credit card buyers will get zero but those that direct deposited will get machines as payment was made. For those that did pay via that method I suggest you keep fighting Dell is aware they MUST send you the machine. I paid via card and will keep fighting as long as I can
Blah :( if that's true is there any way to change my payment method for the ones I bought on cc? I have their banking details.

nah don't worry maf101, Dell can't get away with it this time no matter how we paid ;) We purchased this system minus the extra's so how can this be a ERROR ?

i was wondering if you have to actually goto NAB and deposit the money or could we do the transfer on online banking to their account? another odd thing, why nab when their account is with citibank?
Deposit payment At any National Australia Bank branch please complete a bank deposit advice slip with the information below and deposit it along with your cheque or cash. Payee : Dell Australia Pty. Limited Account Number : 106685061 Bank Name and Branch (BSB) : Citibank Limited, 242-000 Once you have paid:You MUST fax or email a copy of the payment advice (the part of the deposit slip returned to you by the bank,)along with your Internet Reference number,IRN (as in the Thank You page) to: FAX: +61 2 8972 6000 Email: au_remittance@dell.com If you do not fax or email Dell with these details your payment may be delayed.

Hi Nod, Reading through the above posts and the posts on "those other forums" I am reminded of the quote "To lose one parent, Mr Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness." The same might be said (again) of Dell Pricing in light of what occurred so recently and the assurances given in the article ]http://apcmag.com/Content.aspx?id=3192 ..."we (have) reviewed the process to prevent future mistakes." Many today (here and elsewhere) have relied on these assurances and have indicated interest in purchasing on the terms offered. Technically it looks to me like an "invitation to treat" matter and often you will see E & OE or similar to insulate the vendor against such events. "Businesses that become aware of a mistake in their price should immediately rectify the mistake" ]http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/322984 Hmmm... sure I "ordered" one and it would be great PR for Dell to honour this but in all likelihood Dell will (again) say "we didn't know". Dell were pretty quick in sending me (and others) a Dell Order Acknowledgement so if they know it is a mistake it would be in their best interests to E-mail people today to rectify same. As far as treating people who have settled via direct deposit as opposed to Credit Card differently there does not appear to be a stated policy by Dell that priority will be given to those who direct deposit. That said, if Dell regards Direct Deposit as satisfying consideration and feel obliged, it will be interesting to see what happens if people lean on their Credit Card company or Bank as well as Dell.

Actually that was me that made that comment on the other site, not joyolee :) I spoke to a Dell chap called Winston that assured me with a very smug attitude that I would not be getting my machines (from the first stuff up) as I had paid with credit card. He said if I had paid by direct deposit or funds transfer and even sent them 5 cents (his words) that Dell would have no choice but to send me the machines. I asked him if this would be happening to the people that had paid cash this time and he said yes. So thanks to him I made sure with this new order I did EFT :)
• maf101
Thanks hotzone. I edited my earlier post. Every online store I've purchased from (excluding pre-orders) have charged my credit card when I've proceeded through the final checkout stage. It's usually the DD and bank transfers that take a day or two to clear. Most people will think they've paid. If 5c can make such a difference, us cc buyers should send them 5c and 'when' they cancel our orders we can waste their time getting our 5c refund! :p

I havent had any issues with Dells service or hardware, I find the products good, not as good as building your own but for a simple machines, server etc very good, however this first problem or "error" as they put it on the 10th was an error and I think we can all admit to that and if we got our machines either via bank transfer or credit card payments it would have been awesome but I think it was doubtful it was going to end in joy. That was until I spoke to Winston from Dell here in Australia, he had called my friend to tell him he didnt have a snowballs chance in hell of getting the firs machines he ordered because he had paid via credit card. After much arguing he finally said that Dell would honor payments made by direct deposit payers(even if they had paid only 5cents) machines would be sent...so I thought well at least some people will get machines so thats good. Then 30 mins later I see this and other sites showing the "error" has happened again so I placed an order for more machines and paid via direct deposit. :) As I am sure Winston is a man of his word and wouldnt have lied to me I will be sure to ring him Monday and inform him of my purchase order no and ask when my machines will be delivered. :)

I know that making direct deposit to sort of 'seal' the contract is good point to argue to get them to honour the deal, but its gonna be a pain in the ar$3 to get the money back though. Anyway, I do hope they honour the deal. Maybe like just for first 50 or 100 customers and limit one desktop per person? I would be happy with that outcome even if i don't make it to the first 50 customers. :>
• hotzone
Unfortunatly they will need to honor all or none or some people that ordered might have the money/backing to sue them and its not worth the risk for Dell to get large numbers of people taking them to court over $400 of computer parts. Personally i'd think Dell would have some sort of insurance to cover for screw ups like this or being a large company they could just write it off as advertising. I think its being handled badly either way you look at it, people on other forums report being hung up on multiply times the moment they ring and quote the internet reference number. Dell needs to do something pretty quick to hold on to whatever of its reputation that's left. I for one as an I.T Admin will be sh!t canning all purchases of Dell equipment where I work if they screw me not for the error or not honoring it but for how Dell treats its customers, IBM, United Airlines and other big name companies have all made errors in the past and paid out on them without so much as flinching, Dells answer.....hang up on its customers. Also I would think 90% of buyers from these "errors" are I.T nerds or computer savvy people and those are the people most non computer savvy people ask when buying a computer....guess who we will all tell them to avoid Mr Dell if this goes bad :)
• liewehan

Dell Australia spokesman Marty Filipowski said the offer was simply a mistake and stemmed from Dell accidentally allowing customers to delete certain accessories from their orders. "Those who deleted the preconfigured accessories from their order where inadvertently offered the product for $238.64," he said.
Did any member do as I suggested and buy with all the configured accessories still in place? Reading the above would suggest Dell may have let the order through had you done so.

It would be nice if sites credited some of this to BUCKSCOOP as it was ]sandgroper whom originally posted the 1st deal!! 5 HOURS later it was listed on the other site and 8 HOURS on another. Yes I know we all share deals, most members have other accounts on other forums that's cool but just for once I would like to see the original poster and website get mentioned, it takes time to find deals and post just to have the credit taken away. If I come across grumpy, I'm sorry, the last few day's have been a nightmare as we were hit with that awful storm in Brisbane and everything is just getting back to normal. It was murder not having power for over 30 HRS but my heart goes out to the families that lost their homes :flowers:

Hi, I thought I had better come over here and introduce myself
lilpretzel;71317
Personally I think it's a great idea but NO WAY I'm going to supply my personal details to strangers..
I understand this, and normally wouldn't ask this from ALOT of complete strangers. If you have privacy concerns, you are welcome to be a bit vague with your answers. Alot of submissions have included just a first name and this is fine with me. The reason for your email address, is so I can contact you incase its needed. (I don't ask your phone number, so email is the only form of communication available) And the order number is just a method to prevent bogus posters muddling up the numbers.

I had only just discovered this myself. Please see my ]post from 7am this morning: -- I just want to quickly say that I have recently (IE This morning) discovered a website called “Buck Scoop”. It appears as though they had discovered this deal as well as us here. (And welcome fellow Dell deal hunters). I wish to acknowledge sandgroper, as timestamps show actually discovered the deal before I and any other online forum did. And my apologies go out to lilpretzel as I may or may not have been involved in leaking this story to various media outlets thus far without including her site. I can only promise and encourage anyone else who discusses this matter with the media to include this site in their release. To date, we have: Slashdot:. http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/11/17/0234256 SMH:. http://www.smh.com.au/news/technology/biztech/halfprice-offe... The Age:. http://www.theage.com.au/news/technology/biztech/halfprice-o... Whirlpool. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1084759 OzBargains. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/7810 OCAU. http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=728689 BuckScoop. https://www.buckscoop.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=12308 Not to mention the front page results when conducting google searches: “Dell deal”. http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=dell+deal “Marty Filipowski”. http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=marty+filipowski etc etc. -- PS - That post is now edit locked. So the way it appers now, is word for word how I posted it this morning. As I have mentioned above - I honestly did not realise that the deal was posted on this site at the time. Now that I do, I will be including it on any media related enquiries I deal with. Once again, my apologies for the delayed recognition.

Goodluck with everything lilpretzel. I have family up there, and its been a fractic day as we try to get in contact with 'em. (We have finally done so now. Turns out they were too technologically advanced to have an 'old fashion' corded phone... And cordless phones don't work too well without power =o)

sorry lilpretzel, but i don't understand why you make such a big issue out of this. buckscoop members take offers from ozbargain too without mentioning the original poster and the source...a recent example is the myer offer...(ozbargain adds a number to the file uploaded to the site. the file uploaded here has that number, so it is taken from ozbargain)....

Hi everyone I will be canceling my order tomorrow as I really cannot be bothered with Dell anymore, the way they bait advertise and handle customers is a disgrace. As for getting a little payback on them I had to buy another server for work today and the only two companies we buy from are Dell and HP. So Dell guess who got the $30,000 server order today??? :p Hope that makes some of you feel better because it gave me a large smile as I signed it off :) , if a few more people that have the power at work or in companies they own don’t buy Dell this little “error” as Dell puts it will cost them a fortune. I will no longer recommend them to staff when they come into my office asking whats a good machine to buy for home. I use to recommend them as a cheap alternative to building your own machine if your a novice but the treatment my friends and members of this and other forums have experienced over the last few weeks has left a very sour taste and one that won’t go away any time soon. Good luck to those that fight it, I will watch in interest.

Great point Hotzone In some ways the best way for people to 'vote' is with their feet or $$ :D

To add more "salt to the wound", here is a news article on records profits announced by DELL. Maybe it is through these dodgy deals that they are getting all the extra $$'s! Dell profit tops forecasts ]http://business.theage.com.au/business/world-business/dell-profit-tops-forecasts-20081121-6d0m.html

guys, received my call today (second call). Still the two "famous" options, nothing else. Any suggestion what else I can do?
• ndro777
I have too start putting my orders for our server upgrade to HP. No more DELL for my company. I'm not too upset about not getting the deals, it would be good if I can get the order, but it's just the way they treated their customers. Totally disrespectful I think now they are just sitting quietly wishing this debacle will die away after a while.
• maf101
I surrender. They haven't phoned me yet but I'm canceling my order. I'm fed up hoping they'll change their minds or someone will find a legal loophole. I doubt either will happen. I got a little satisfaction today. They emailed me a customer satisfaction survey.
Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for visiting support.dell.com on 11/14/2008 for online support. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are interested in your feedback concerning your experience. 1. Please rate your overall satisfaction with your visit to the Dell Support website on 11/14/2008 using a scale where 1 is 'Extremely Dissatisfied' and 9 is 'Extremely Satisfied'. Answer: 1 2. Please confirm your level of satisfaction Answer: Overall I was dissatisfied. 3. Which one of the following best describes your primary purpose for visiting the Dell support website on 11/14/2008? Answer: Order - Systems, Accessories, Upgrades or Parts Thank you for participating in this survey.
• nod
I guess it does show that they are trying to be a little proactive but not sure why they would need a survey for that. There is enough info on the forums at the moment you would think. I do hope that they learn from the events of the last few weeks though. I think a lot of people share your sentiment Maf101. It is not that they did not receive the machines really but the fact that Dell have dragged their heels in replying to customers. The contact, and refunds took way too long. Not to mention the error occurring twice in one week!

Pars on Ozbargain
Don’t give up out there. After chasing Dell customer services and keeping accurate records of my contact with them I finally have had my order confirmed and payment taken by them. My records helped me to give examples of how poorly they had acted over my order to a point where i feel they could not defend the indefenceable. It also showed that customer service offshore do not communicate well with those here.
I wonder if this is true? I still haven't had an email or a phone call yet. I PM'ed someone last Friday on Whirlpool who works at Dell in warranty repairs. I have no idea of the status of my order. I assume this person forwarded my details to the sales department and that my order won't be canceled until they phone me but I'm unsure. This has gone on for too long.

I have a quick update to provide.
To all those that have been emailing, I wish to provide a quick public update for everyone. I have sought my own individual legal advice from a solicitor. (At this stage, I will go forward on the basis of it being an individual action. Although, weight will be given to this based on the 150+ order details which have been submitted on this website so far) During our meeting this afternoon, numerous situations and scenarios were considered and we have decided to pursue this through the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal (] CTTT). This is considered a step up from the NSW OFT, whereby both parties are able to meet to discuss their viewpoints. It is not conducted in a strictly, formal legal manner. Solicitors are not required and many disputes are resolved directly with the members involved (Of course, I do not see Dell appearing without legal representation). Our case is much more applicable and stands a better chance in a more equitable based hearing. I believe this will be my best opportunity to get a successful outcome. I have already submitted a lodgment to have this case heard by the CTTT. In the next few days, I should be given the date of the case and can provide further details then. The overall feeling we had was a positive one. There were numerous parts of the case discussed tonight which were considered to be in our favour and I will expand more on this after the case. Although I could not ask for advice for everyone else affected by this promotion by Dell (and of course I could not provide any advice myself) I would recommend we continue to approach this scenario from as many points as possible. These include first discussing the matter with Dell directly, and if an equitable outcome is not possible, that you consider submitting complaints with the ] NSW Fair Trading ( 13 32 20) or the ] ACCC ( 1300 302 502) . For those wishing to pursue this with the CTTT as well, you can lodge a complaint ] here or contact them on 1300 135 399. Be aware that there will be a cost for this. I will keep everyone updated on this site, and hopefully once I have a positive outcome, others may be able to use it as a form or 'precedence' for their own individual orders. Goodluck everybody

Hi BB I think if we take it to the Tribunal as a group, then it would actually be taken more seriously by them i.e if 100 appear at the hearing represented by 1 person speaking for all, then more weight would be taken as a group action rather than an individual action due to the number of people affected. If u decide to take it up as a group action to the tribunal, then im ready mate .. im always ready for ACTION !! lol Cheers BB:twisted:
• Grinner
I wish you all the best with your case BluBoy. I didn't order a Dell computer but for everyone who did I hope you fight them and get it at the cheaper price advertised. If I ordered one I would be taking it to the tribunal too! Good Luck all.
