Canon Pixma MX700 Multifunction Print/scan/copy/fax printer $166

23 May 2008

Maybe its a misprint as officeworks has it advertised on special for $229 and ht.com.au as $270.
computeronline.com.au have the Canon Pixma MX700 Multifunction Print/scan/copy/fax printer on their website for $166. This has decent reviews from cnet and others. Prints/scans/copies/fax+ ethernet. Comes with 4 individual ink tanks making it (a bit!) cheaper to run.
They have a store in sydney but also have about $16 delivery. I've placed my order and waiting to see if they'll honour it. I'll let u know if they deliver :)

Added bonus: Canon current promotion offers a free $75 Pixma Premium Creative Pack (includes lots of canon printer papers, etc) for this model plus a chance to win a world tour worth $25000!
... now if I win this, that would be a real bargain.

Great price but the only thing that's missing that I use a lot is a cd/dvd printer function. :)

a while back a deal was posted for comsumtech.com.au selling this printer's black ink cartridge for $5 (without the chip). Did anyone use them? was it practical to change the chip yourself? If so, if I do get this printer, I'll order a few of those just in case...

I remember that deal Samia786 From what I read it was a pretty simple thing to do - you just needed to make sure that you kept the one from the original ink cartridge

Pop that in google Samia786 - it has a good write up - you can't cut and paste the text

good luck with it :) You got yourself a bargain if they do And if you do get the printer and start messing around with the chips - get back to us - it would be really interesting to hear how easy it is. The cost of ink and the amount of waste that occurs with them is pretty horrific

maaan I've been procrastinating about getting an Epson multifunction printer (just coz I like Epson).... now you throw this in front of me :( .... anyways hot from me :( :( :(

Epson ones are also good. Just dont get those <$200 Lexmark ones. Sooo many issues requiring repairs plus the ink are used up in <100 pages of normal text! I got a new genuine ink ($32) for my lexmark x3470, replaced it in the printer and now the printer doesnt work and requires repairs (and ofcourse its out of warranty!). It was already repaired once for the same issue the last time the cartridge was changed.

I've had similar issues with Lexmark. Dead cartridges and cartridges that dont last very long. With the chip replacement samia - from memory there was also a place that sold the actual chips. Chinese. So if you stuff one up you should still be able to get a new one.

I just received the printer. works fine. Apparently $166 was their normal listed price. no dramas, quick delivery! very happy!
