Buy 5 HP Toners (C7115A) at $72 each and get a free WII

26 October 2007

Okay, we decided that the HP Summer Giveaways was pretty crappy. BUT I stumbled across this site and they have the cheapest toners at $72 each (C7115A) and to be very honest, it's still cheaper than buying a WII and you get 5 free TONERS. And the printers that they work on aren't too expensive either. OR YOU CAN JUST FLOG THEM OFF EBAY (but they aren't fetching good prices though).

And I confirmed with the lady who works there via email that they DO HAVE THE PINK STICKER (which means they are participating in this summer giveaway promotion.

Downside to this is basically the fact that you can wait up to 2 mths(I think) for the Wii but since it's for free. Why the heck not ?

Also, you might want to reconfirm with them about the pink sticker JUST IN CASE !!

P/S:Forgive me for my lack of etiquette in typing tonight.

I think the write up is great :D So you get 5 ink cartridges with 5 free toners for $72 x 5 = $360 and then the free Wii! With the Wii worth about $300 Hot vote from me I think this is a great offer
  • diider
Thanks nod. yeah pretty good bargain hey. and each person can claim up to 5 prizes. So I might actually do that and claim 3 or something cause the bf and I are needing new printers and although we've got our Wii (one each) but it will be great Chrissy presents.
  • nod
You have got one each?? :D I might just add info to the title then Diider - hope you don't mind :)
  • diider
No worries nod. Do whatever u want :D
  • diider
Yeah well we don't live together so yeah. And we hardly ever play anymore. But I did pick up some bargains at Big W at $44 for each Wii game 2 weeks ago
  • nod
$44 each is pretty good - what did you get?
  • diider
I got Spongebob , Barnyard and Need for Speed Carbon at $44 each :D:D. Big W also has GT for Wii for $45 with a free steering wheel thingy(where u can put your controller in)

Hey can anybody provide a link to what printers they work on ? I'm in need of a printer and I think I will be upgrading to laser this time.
  • elegantegotist
At work we have a laser printer and I think its the best thing ever. So much better than my inkjet at home. So slow and noisy.

HP LaserJet C7115 Family Print Cartridges is compatible with the following products: HP LaserJet 1000 Printer (Q1342A) HP LaserJet 1200 Printer (C7044A) HP LaserJet 1200n Printer (C7048A) HP LaserJet 1200se Printer (C7047A) Can anyone help me find a deal with one of these printers ? I think they are the ones that are compatible with this toner cartridge. Thankyou so much in advance.
  • lilpretzel
    Will try :)
  • elegantegotist
    Ta hun. :D
  • admin EDITOR
EE - the 1200se is priced at around $765, the C7044A is $894, the Q1342A $510, the C7048A $1492, and I've seen a tentative $299 on the C7047A but I'm yet to verify that. You still looking ??
  • elegantegotist
Yes yes I'm still looking ! Any offers or comments appreciated. Currently I have an epson stylus 860 which is about 7 years old. I feel its time for an update and I'm steering clear of the inkjets and bubblejets this time.
  • admin EDITOR
:D - my question is how much do you want to spend. Do you want expense or bargain (I was going to write good or cheap but then thats not really truthful these days) ?
  • elegantegotist
Well first of all I think I should take advantage of this deal because I want a wii as well. So i guess its limited to printers that are compatible with the ink cartridges in this thread. Do you think that's a good idea ?
  • admin EDITOR
Do you think that's a good idea ?
Makes sense to me provided the sums work out.

    Ok - just trolled around the list of toners that are 'eligible' and the cheaper end were these ones. C4191A - $69 C9700A - $83 Q3960A - $89 Q6000A - $75 92274A - $49 C3906A - $55 C4092A - $42 Q2624A - $60 So assuming the $42 ones are tagged thats $210 for the basic Wii which seems to be going out at about $399 - http://consolehunt.com/
  • admin EDITOR
now to see if we can find a printer to go with the wii and the mountain of toner you've just bought :)
  • admin EDITOR
Just found a flaw in my cunning plan the el cheapos are generics and not genuine HP.
  • admin EDITOR
Ok - I can find the 7115A for $70 - which works out much the same as diiders original, which still isnt too bad at $350 for a $399 machine. If you were to get these for example you could ebay the lot - there's one on there with 4 days to go and its been bid to $31 so far. Lets say you could get an average price of $30 - you could pick up a Wii for $200. Not bad - anyway - still got to find you a printer.
  • admin EDITOR
    Ahhh - here's a little bit cheaper again - $67 for the C4092A https://www.midinet.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=16_62&products_id=106729
  • elegantegotist
I was thinking of keeping the toners to use with my new HP printer ? I mean i would need ink for my printer so why not keep them ? Coz with the original offer you buy 5 inks and you get 5 free toners and then you can claim for a Wii right ? I'm pretty sure a laser printer needs ink and toner ? I am so confused.
  • elegantegotist
Oops I forgot to say thankyou for all the work thus far. I'm not a techhead at all so when it comes to things like these I can get very confused.

I'm a bit confused by that one as well. Diider should be around to explain sometime soon.

Sandy did a good summary of this question - will go find it.

You'd get a heck of a lot of printing out of them :)

theres some good stuff on laser printers and drum / toner in these pages elegantegotist http://www.buckscoop.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=2791&highlight=laser+printer
  • elegantegotist
Okay I'm supposed to buy 5 HP "ink cart" and get 5 toners free ? Just trying to get my head around this. Can anyone clarify how I do this because I don't see it anywhere on the website.
  • diider
Hey.sorry guys. pc went bonkers.... anyway i need to fix up the title. It's suppose to be BUY 5 HP TONERS AND GET A FREE WII! I think nod might have changed the title?
  • elegantegotist
Oh okay thanks for clarifying hun. Might give this offer a miss then unless I can find a printer for this cartridge that's really good value.
  • diider
Ahh i think there's a different toner, the 15 A and I saw the laserjet 1005 that works with the 15 a tonerin officeworks for 340 i think but im sure u can find it cheaper elsewhere.
  • elegantegotist
Wow 340 for a laser printer is a bargain. I paid like $600 for my epson inkjet but this was 6 years ago. So I haven't been printer shopping for long time.

Laser printers are pretty cheap these days - there's not always much between them and ink jets. Will have a look around for you in a bit - see what can be found.
  • elegantegotist
Oh okay in that case I will wait then. I don't really need a printer at the moment as my epson is currently still good and I still have ink left. Thanks guys and girls.

The Fuji Xerox 203A can be ]got for around $125 (also check out dStore). It's sibling the Brother HL-2040 is slightly more expensive. Both have been the subject of heavy discounting (<$100) in the last six months at various stores including DSE, Big W, and Harvey Norman. Apparently, if you're handy with a craft knife, you can apparently interchange the toners. This is handy, as the Fuji Xerox consumables are a lot cheaper. Also note opinions such as ]this one.
  • admin EDITOR
$125 bucks is dirt cheap. The only humbug would be that elegantegotist needs to buy 5 HP catridges to get the free Wii :D (unless your saying that they can be made to fit the Xerox)

(unless your saying that they can be made to fit the Xerox)
No such luck, sadly. :) I meant to say that the Xerox and Brother consumables are similar. The Brother and Fuji Xerox cartridges have notches that have matching pillars in the printer casing. Apparently (there's a thread on WP about it, but my Google-fu fails me ATM), you can just cut off the pillar and insert the competitors consumable. Anyway, I think I've dragged this off-topic enough already. :)

Actually this is pretty good info Port. We just need to track down what we need to alter on hte cartridge. :)

That is not such a bad price there for the 3055 - retails at about $530 at a few other stores. Good price for the 5082 :) Thanks Lilpretzel
  • admin EDITOR
I cant answer that question for you - yet - although I'll go have a look but I've been searching around for laserjet 1100 series printers which the C4092A will fit into and the only available ones are old ones on ebay. So thats probably not your best option. I'll try and write up something that should clarify it for you EE.
  • admin EDITOR
:D This thread's been bugging me as I'm even confusing myself... so lets try to clear it up. Ok, elegantegotist.... here's what I can find you. The HP Laserjet printers use just the cartridge (toner). They dont have a drum as far as I can make out (referred to in the description Sandy provided). If I'm wrong would someone more knowledgeable speak up. Your first option. The C7115 cartridge listed in the original deal post will only fit older superceded HP Laserjet printers (ie the 1000 series, 2000 series). These can be hard to find and you'd need to get a second hand one. I've found one though.... http://www.expresspcparts.com.au/storefrontprofiles/DeluxeSFItemDetail.aspx?sfid=32405&c=627678&i=235885178 Sooo - you want to go down this path then get that second hand unit for $50 and then click through on the deal link above and get yourself 5 x the cartridge that diider listed @ $360 and you'll get yourself the wii and the printer for a total cost of 360 + 50 + postage = roughly $440. This is about $50 over what the wii would cost you anyway. Your other option. The new line of cheapy HP Laserjets is the 1020 printer. These are brand spanking so you dont have to shop around on ebay. Umart advertise them for $139 although its currently showing out of stock - http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&bid=4&id2=135. The cartridges you need for this printer can be found for $79.56 at midinet https://www.midinet.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=16_62&products_id=109469. So 139 + 397.80 + postage = roughly $576.80. About $170 over the price of the Wii but if you were wanting both then this is a cheap way to buy them. The HP site says that each cartridge for the 1020 will print you 2000 pages on normal setting which would probably mean 3000 on the saver setting. Now your going to have 6 cartridges up your sleeve. 6 x 2000 = 12000 6 x 3000 = 18000. So if you reckon you'll print between 12 and 18k worth of pages over the lifetime of the printer keep all of them. If you dont think you'll do that then ebay is your option. There's currently someone selling a genuine HP cartidge for the 1020 printer for $90 with $15 postage. They're a new unit so its likely that you'd be able to put the cartridges up and get an average price of $60 (conservative estimate I think). So you could put 3 of the toner cartridges up on ebay (not all at the same time of course) and get yourself $180 back. That'd bring the total cost down to $400 ... which if you ask me is a good buy - although you do have a little bit of risk there.

You didn't happen to ask them to check if they were the specially marked boxes did you? :D
  • admin EDITOR
good thinking batman - would be worth checking that they are the marked ones first (no I didnt). Otherwise I wonder if the merch from Diiders OP has them for the 1020.
  • admin EDITOR
If anyone is buying a HP laserjet they have a promo on at the moment. You can get an extended 2yr warranty and a free black cartridge with your puchase. See hp.com.au/bonusbonanza
