This week we are focusing on everyday items that can be found around the house that can be used to help achieve a number of daily tasks. Whether its repurposing soda cans or finding something better to do with your left over grocery bags, we have an idea for them all.
The main purpose for re-using these items is to help us all save money by not buying additional products to do things that these household items can do just as effectively. If you have any tips or tricks to share with us, please feel free to use the comments section at the end of this article.
Soda Can Hacks
The world uses over 200 billion cans each year, so using these cans for other purposes is a great way to get better value for money when buying soda cans. If you are out camping for example and don’t have a vegetable peeler, you can use a can. It you don’t have picture hooks, you can use a lid, and it goes on, there are many ways these handy little things can be used.
Plastic Grocery Bags
If you have a tendency to forget your shopping bag when visiting the supermarket, it may be likely that you have a drawer at home stuffed with these little plastic bags. The following video shows a number of useful ways to re-use them from storing them in small dispensers, to using them as a bin bag replacement and my favourite; keeping ice-cream from absorbing flavours from other foods in your freezer.
Lemons are relatively cheap, but we are not saying go out and buy some lemons to complete these hacks, instead we are suggesting that if you have any that are left over or that may be beginning to turn, don’t waste them. Instead of throwing them away, save money by creating your own de-greaser or deodoriser.
An iron can be incredibly handy around the house, did you know that an iron and a towel can complete the same job that a professional laminator would do. Personally, one of my favourite iron hacks was using it to rid wooden objects of dents, simply add some water and cover with a damp towel and nasty dents will simply vanish.
Baking Soda Hacks
This relatively cheap powder has so many uses it’s a shame that it doesn’t get the hype it deserves. If after all of these videos you feel like simply using your household items to play a good trick on a friend, then the hacks within this video not only contain cleaning tips and tricks, but a funny ketchup prank too.
