If you are somebody like me who likes to get away over the New Year period then our deal hunter Captainjack has found a really good hotel suite offer in Bali courtesy of Scoopon. The price for 8 nights at The Segara Suites, Dusa Nua is $859 which when compared to other hotel booking websites (Booking.com, Expedia, Venere.com etc.) who are charging upwards of $1,800, offers exceptional value for money. The Segara Suites is a great place for couples, but if you plan on bringing the kids then it’s also worth knowing that it was rated as being in the top 25 hotels for families in Indonesia according to Tripadvisor during 2015.
As Captainjack has outlined in his deal on Buckscoop, he’s looked at specific dates on which to travel:
Dates: 26/12/2015 – 3/1/2016
Accommodation: 8 nights staying in a one-bed suite for two adults and 1 child at the 4-star Segara Suites in Tanjung Benoa beach, Nusa Dua, Bali.
This Scoopon deal is actually $499 for 8 nights as long as you don’t plan to stay there during peak periods which carry a nightly surcharge on the room. This deal itself is valid from the 7th October 2015 to the 20th December 2016. However, if you travel between the 1st set of dates below, you will be charged a $45 surcharge per night on the room while $20 per night is applied for the 2nd set:
- 23 December 2015 – 5th January 2016
- 1st July 2016 – 30th September 2016
Bear in mind, even though there is a surcharge per night during the above periods, the price still works out cheaper than Hotels.com, Booking.com and Venere.com by as much as 50%. I thought I’d run my own price check (as of the 4th November 2015), because I wanted to see if they’d changed from the day before when Captainjack did his and low and behold, average prices have already shot up by a few hundred dollars!
- Venere – $1,892
- Expedia – $1,839 (including Expedia’s coupon giving 10% off hotels booked before 31st December)
- Hotels.com – $1,892
- Booking.com – $1,843
Besides the higher rates being charged by these websites, none of them appear to come with any of the additional benefits that the Scoopon deal offers either (or if they do, they’re hiding them pretty well).
- 3 x dinners for each guest
- Daily Breakfast for each guest
- 1 x Indonesian lunch for each guest
- 2 x 60 minute Balinese massages per adult
- Daily coffee and bottles of water in the room
- Welcome drink and fruit platter on arrival
- Orange juice by the poolside
- Extra late 4pm check-out
- Return airport shuttle
It’s also worth mentioning that the hotel provides full 24-hour Wi-Fi in the bedroom and public areas. If you do decide to bring a child, then children up to 3 years old stay for free, whilst kids between the ages of 4-12 can stay for $10 per night with breakfast included.
Additionally, there were a couple of people that asked Captainjack about any good flight deals getting to Bali. He checked it out and found that whilst at the moment the best direct flights were with Jetstar, overall they weren’t cheap. Whether you are flying from Melbourne or Sydney, the average return trip works out to be around $1,300 if you wanted direct flights.
From our experience, we know that Jetstar along with other airlines do release Bali flight deals closer to Christmas, so we will definitely keep you updated on the blog or deals board as and when these become available.
