Great Offers At BrandsExclusive

BrandsExclusive leads a spate of new bulk buying, group buying websites that have sprung up around the world in recent years. BrandsExclusive is no newbie though, having been around since 2009, and introducing this style of shopping to Australia (they say, at least.)

Working with over 800 premium brand names, BrandsExclusive offers up to 70% off the RRP of the products they sell.

Great Offers At BrandsExclusiveThe way it works is pretty standard. You sign up for a free membership, and you’ll receive a daily email telling you whats on offer that day and also whether a new Brands Exclusive redeem code has become available for additional discounts on items.

If you like what you see, you buy it. BrandsExclusive doesn’t have a warehouse, so stock isn’t kept on the premises. Instead, offers are live for 2-4 days, and then are ordered, so it will take a little longer to get to you than if you ordered direct, but the hope is that you’ve saved enough to make it worth it.

One thing to bare in mind with this site, and ones similar to it, is that the quoted original price is usually the most expensive it’s ever sold for in the history of its existence! It’s the RRP and more, some times, but it looks really good against the new price. It has happened though, that a quick comparison finds it cheaper elsewhere.

Let’s look at a few examples.

Great Offers At BrandsExclusiveIn the Living section there’s a Russel Hobbs heritage kettle on offer for £69.99 reduced from £99.99. Add almost $10 shipping – flat rate – and it’s just under $70 and will take 2 – 4 weeks to get to you. The same kettle is currently selling at Harvey Norman for $79 with just shy of $6 shipping, so it is going to cost you $85 and ships in 2 days. Or you could pick it up in store if there’s one near you, and just pay the $79. It depends how badly you need it, and how long you want to wait, really.

There are also lovely children’s products that feature on the site regularly, and one of the real benefits of a site like this is that they are able to import things that might just be too expensive to do on your own. For example the Teamson range currently available. There’s a lot of bits and pieces of furniture that you can barely find anywhere else at all, in Australia.

So, then, something like the gorgeous Garden Bookshelf which they’re selling at $199, is a great price, when compared to the $209 you can get it for at Child & Baby. At that rate, you can get it shipped for free in 12 – 14 days, or pay an additional $145 to have it sent by express mail! So there it’s definitely a much better price.

I haven’t spotted anything in the current sale that is actually cheaper elsewhere, but if you’re buying a big item, it’s always worth doing a quick search to be sure. But if you’re buying more than one item at a time, bare in mind the savings in a flat rate shipping fee too.

Overall though, I love sites like these, because I often see great savings, buy them, stick ‘em in the cupboard and I have something that looks pricey but was cheap to hand out at the next kid’s birthday party.

(Assuming the pounds are actually dollars) the maths is out. After adding delivery that comes to effectively just under $80 – so it’s more expensive than the Harvey Norman Price if you pick up immediately. Or if you’re willing to wait 2-4 weeks longer and want it delivered then it works out $5 cheaper… Not really a great deal.

It’s not clear and as I don’t have a login I can’t check. But it sounds like it’s $199, plus $10 delivery, so the same price as the $209 with free delivery at Child & Baby. Plus at Child &Baby you would possibly be getting it about 2 weeks earlier given the 2-4 weeks wait you mentioned.

Of course, if it’s $199 including postage, that’s a $10 saving – but with a longer wait. Even in any case, I still wouldn’t call a 5% saving ($10 out of $210) “a great saving in comparison”

Odysseus, good to see somebody’s paying attention here. The maths is definitely out!

While the Russell Hobbs Heritage kettle deal, as you say, doesn’t really constitute a great deal, the Garden Bookshelf one still is pretty decent.

To clarify, although the sale has just finished at BrandsExclusive I can see that the bookshelf was listed with the selling price of $144.99 (plus $9.90 for shipping). At Child & Baby it’s currently $199 plus shipping bringing the total delivered price to $207.95. Ignore the bit about the $145 to have it sent using Express mail as that’s clearly inaccurate. But in summary, the BrandsExclusive deal still would have worked out at around a 25% saving.
