Valentines Day: Experience Gift Ideas in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth

Posted by on February 8, 2016 at 8:08 AM

The 14th of February is just around the corner so for any of you guys looking for ideas to spoil that women in your life on Valentines, you’ve come to the right place. We all know they want to feel special and it’s well within your power to make this happen, even on a budget. In trying to come up with my own gift ideas, I’ve settled upon an “experience orientated” one consisting of some form of daily activity (e.g. body massage, facial, wine tour) followed up by a meal out to a restaurant. Fairly certain this is likely to bag me a ton of brownie points with the girlfriend, which hopefully means the same will apply to you too!

Valentines Day: Experience Gift Ideas in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth

The initial research I did for this centred around Sydney, however I appreciate we have readers from all over so I’ve extended my research to a number of other cities too. It’s easy to get duped into over-spending on Valentines simply because of the occasion and the fact that retailers tend to jack up their prices. So in respect to the type of gift I’m looking at, in my experience the best way to keep costs down is to book through one of the online daily deals websites. Scoopon is a solid favourite of mine as I find they tend to be very competitively priced if you know what to look for. Thus, to keep things focused, I’ve decided to concentrate on their deals and offers to put together a comprehensive list of gift choices (broken down by city).

This is worth a larger blog posting.

Dimmi is an Oz restaurant booking app / site. Once a week they provide at least one 50% off restaurant deal and at least one 30% off deal. It seems that if they can find more they post them. There seems to be a tie in between Dimmi and Urbanspoon though I think its dimmi thats obtaining the deals and urban spoon are syndicating them.

The 50% off deals must be booked by the end of day each Tuesday when they are released. I’ll try to keep updating this posting as even if the restaurant isnt the best your risk at 30% or 50% off is less than full price. Restrictions apply to each booking (see later in this post). To find the deals you need to sign up to Dimmi and click on the weekly specials banner.

So for today, the 50% off deals (must be booked by end of the day) are for:
