HotelClub announced their sale on Pacific Islands and New Zealand hotel bookings a few days ago. In conjunction, I see there’s an active 15% off HotelClub promo code applicable on hotels which gets you an even better travel deal. Take note, to get the extra 15% off you need to book by the 6th of October with travel dates before the 31st December 2013. Also, this promo code does not apply to hotel bookings in New Zealand, which leaves us with a list of about 18 deals on Pacific Island hotels. All sale discounts range from between 25% to 55%. I was interested in a one week trip at the end of October so selected the dates Saturday 26th October to Saturday 2nd of November 2013. Here are a list of the top offers from HotelClub that I found.
Starting at the top of the list was the Sonaisali Island Resort (Coral Coast) showing a 40% discount off standard rates. The cost of a beachfront hotel room is $300.88 per night, which comes to a total of $2105.88 for the week – before you apply the 15% off promo code. However, if you book within the next 48 hours you’ll get another 55% off the daily room rate plus they’ll throw in the full American buffet breakfast option too! That drops the room rate down to just $115/night, which if you then apply the 15% off promo code on top of, brings the overall price down to just $995.07. A whopper of a discount.
But of course, a discount or saving from one travel deal is only as good as the difference between it and the next best offer available online. So I price compared this against other travel booking websites who had availability on these particular dates and for this room type. Turns out the next best price was from Hotel.com.au at $1137, which included the same 55% discount as well as the free buffet breakfast add-on if you booked within the next two days. You still save $142 through HotelClub’s deal though. Other deals online were from Expedia.com.au and Hotels.com for $1230, as well as Booking.com for $1493.
Next up on HotelClub’s list of hotels on sale, this time showing a 55% off discount upfront, was The Pearl South Pacific Resort, Spa & Championship Golf Course. This is a cheaper option than the Sonaisali Island Resort and one perhaps more suited towards any keen golfers out there with its 18-hole championship golf course. The base offer from HotelClub for a week’s stay in an ocean view room is $1,470.84. But once again, there are additional discounts available which allow for significant savings. For starters, as the booking period is more than 5 days you’ll qualify for their 55% off offer. Then, as a HotelClub member (quick and free to join) you’ll also receive a free 30 min “tropical massage” for two at the spa during your stay. Looking at the hotel’s own website, the tropical massage normal costs $90 for two people. Finally, when you apply the 15% off promo code it takes the final booking price down to $694.94. Another huge overall discount.
When comparing this deal against other travel booking sites, there was a similar variation in prices to those of the Sonaisali Island Resort. The next best offer was from Expedia.com.au at $962, followed by Booking.com at $1412 and finally Wotif.com at $1629. So on this deal from HotelClub, the stacking of discounts gives you a substantial saving of $267.
Out of interest, I did a very quick check on Expedia to see what the cheapest listed price on flights for this trip would be. Turns out you can get two return tickets from Sydney to Nadi on Jetstar for these dates at a price of $1270. While from Melbourne it’ll cost you $1581. If you’re flying from Sydney though and decide to stay at The Pearl South Pacific Resort, you’re looking at a total of cost of just less than $2000 (or $1976 to be precise) for a Fijian holiday getaway for two. This is a great deal and definitely worth taking advantage of, if your personal circumstances allow for it!
