ASOS, the retail powerhouse, has announced that it will be launching a new app for iOS. The new app is designed to make the entire shopping experience with the company easier, less confusing and most importantly much faster. The “New In” app will feature new items every week that users will be shown directly on their portable device. Huge global success for the brand has given them the confidence to try a game changing app tactic.
ASOS now attracts roughly 88 million users per month and its active monthly users rate sit at around 9 million people. Combining the huge success of its retail brand with the in-app experience of the immensely popular dating app Tinder, ASOS has created the ‘New In’ app. Apple fans will be able to browse the 000’s of new garments from their iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad every month.
Online fashion retailer ASOS has announced that its new creation will give users the opportunity to browse all of its latest outfits with the simplicity of swiping left or right. If you have ever used the dating app Tinder, then you will be familiar with the process. For those of you who haven’t, Tinder searches your local area for potential relationship matches and populates your mobile app profiles of these people. The next step requires you to simply swipe left if you don’t like someone, or swipe right if you do.
ASOS intend on using this same interface to allow customers to browse the 2,500 to 4,5000 new items that it plans on making available each week. App users will be able to sign into the app, select male or female and start swiping left to view the latest arrivals. Once you find the outfit or garment that you like, you will be provided with links directly to the shopping app or mobile site to complete your purchase.
If you swipe the item right it will be saved in your ASOS list that will be accessible from whatever device you sign into. This adventurous step forward by the retail giant is also designed to help the company become more current by enabling users to share their latest finds with friends through email, messaging or social media.
The ‘New In’ ASOS app is due to launch this month in Australia and will be available initially on the Apple App Store online. The company are making the app completely free of charge so get it whilst it remains free. This aggressive move appears to be have set in motion to continue the growth of its market dominance. Comments from ASOS’ chief executive, Nick Robertson, said the firm will continue to invest in the future of mobile technology to help reach more customers. The company believes that customers will increasingly shop on “phablet devices” and that app driven shopping experiences will grow in popularity over time.
