Posted by on December 2, 2015 at 8:12 AM

It’s December and Christmas is snowballing in fast so if you and your other half want to squeeze in some quality time together before the family swoop down, a bargain meal out for two might be just the answer. Last week I wrote a post about a meal bargains in Sydney, so this week it’s the turn of the Melburnians.

A Roundup of the Best Online Dinner Deals in Melbourne

Below you will find a few of the best meal deals available right now, sectioned in relation to the daily deals website they’re advertised on (Scoopon, Living Social and OurDeal). I’ve outlined the details of each offer as well as described why exactly I believe they offer such great value for money (e.g. customer reviews, discount levels) compared to other online restaurant deals in Melbourne.

Customer Tips

If you enjoy a peaceful setting and a quiet meal then the best time to go is during the week when the restaurant isn’t as full. One customer said the views over the river are fantastic and for a quiet dinner for two it’s a harmonious setting. If you prefer the hustle and bustle with a background of jumping flames then Friday and Saturday night will be more suited.

What Customers Thought

The Kobe Jones riverside restaurant has a solid 4 star rating on tripadvisor. A number of customers noted that when arriving with a Scoopon deal voucher they were treated with the same professional and respectful manor as any of the other regular customers. The portions can appear small at first glance, but numerous diners were quick to point out that each course is a delectable compliment to the other and that the sheer volume will ensure you don’t leave feeling hungry. Finally, the majority of customers praised the freshness of the food within the 10-course meal and particularly enjoyed watching the professionals cook if in their usual dramatic teppenayaki fashion.

Customer Tips

The restaurant has a BYO policy, which many customers loved due to the fact that they could bring their own wine with a nominal $2 per person corkage fee. Whether you’re a meat lover or a vegetarian, the restaurant has received gleaming reviews from customers who felt that Tasty Junction appealed to both types of diners, whether you were ordering off the a la carte menu or taking up the LivingSocial restaurant deal.

What Customers Thought

I personally read all reviews on the Zomato website and couldn’t find a single negative comment about the food or service. 95% of the reviewers commented on the tantalisingly tasty food which they enjoyed at Tasty Junction, whilst the remaining spoke of the excellent service, great value for money and staff going above and beyond to help accommodate either large parties (18 people +), or offering to make special request dishes if the menu didn’t have what a customer was looking for.

OURDEAL – Wine Tasting, Pizza and a Drink for Two

A Roundup of the Best Online Dinner Deals in Melbourne

This is our budget option for the couples out there looking for a cheap but enjoyable meal together. The Essendon Wine Bar should make for a fun evening out for two where you will both be able to taste 5 different wines, eat any pizza off the menu and have a drink to enjoy afterwards, all for only $19.

The Essendon Wine Bar voucher expires on the 16th April 2016 and is not redeemable on Sundays, Monday’s or Tuesdays (only because those are the days that they’re not open).

Customer Tips

The restaurant plays the top 40 hits from 11pm on a Friday and Saturday night so if you plan to eat late, it’s a great time to put that wine to good use and have a little boogie on the dance floor before you head home. The bar is open until 3am. If you have any doubts about wines, you can ask their in-house sommelier for advice, or if they don’t have a wine that you like, you can request it for the next time you visit. Additionally, patrons are welcome to try their free wines (usually a choice of 10-15 on Friday to Sunday evenings).

What Customers Thought

Plenty of customers spoke very highly of this wine bar’s service, whilst others said that they were pleasantly surprised at how their meal turned out to be great value for money. Customers were also impressed with the waiting staff’s knowledge of local vineyards plus the selection of over 130 wines, both national and international along with local, craft and overseas beers too. A few customers left complaints online, however all the ones that I read were very brief and didn’t provide enough detail for me to fully understand what they were complaining about specifically. Basically, no red flags to warn you about with this establishment.
